Its been another great week in Vanderhoof! Its so amazing to see the Lord's hand in the work everyday! We do a lot of "store finding" here in Vanderhoof because each door has been knocked a bunch of times before. So we wander around stores and be creative to start up conversations with people. While we were in a store we found a little children's book called "Sofia Mouse" so we decided to name our mouse in our cabin Sofia. A while back a ward member got us a live trap but it didn't work. So we used some of our store finding techniques to find a better mouse trap. While we were talking to the guy that was helping us how, we realized that our ward member put the trap upside down! But even with the trap working the right way now, Sofia is still queen of the cabin...
A cool blessing from store finding this week was we were knocking on some houses and a lady answered her door and look at me and was like "Hey! I know you!" And I was like "Uhhh... you do?" Turns our I talked to her about green beans in the grocery store. lol. But in the store I didnt really bring up anything Gospel. But at her home we taught her about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and are going back to teach her this week! It was a awesome!! :)
We got a couple new investigators this week! One is a first nations man named Greg that lives on a reservation about 10 minutes out of town. Other sisters in the area talked to him and gave him a Book of Mormon and set up a time for us to see him. He is an older man and used to be a big time baseball player up here! We taught the Restoration and he already feels a connection with the Book of Mormon! Its so awesome to teach 1st Nation people! :)
Our part member families are doing great right name! Rodger's wife and some of his kids were baptized 8 years ago. He comes to church each week and even has a calling! He lives like a member but just drinks coffee. We have been teaching him the Gospel of Jesus Christ but have only been teaching one principle per lesson and its been so awesome! He has just recently started the Book of Mormon and feels like it is true because he normally hates reading but can read the Book of Mormon for hours! He even said he wants to just skip to Alma because he says it sounds like there is a lot of scriptures on baptism there. Baptism is on his mind! We gave him homework to read a list of scriptures on baptism for our next lesson! :)
Well, life is going well in Vanderhood! Its so pretty up here and there are thousands of Canadian Geese! Now I know why they are called Canadian! :) I love you all! Thank you for your love and support!
Love,
Sister Lofthouse
