Its been another great week in Vanderhoof. I love it up here and it has been beautiful like always. :) On Wednesday Amanda and her friend Tyler drove me and Sister Tennison to Prince George to send her down to the Lower Main Land. We also picked Sister Collier up from the airport. She is from Hawaii and is amazing! The spirit is so strong with her and she is probably the most humble person I know! :)
On fast Sunday, Amanda fasted for 24 hours praying fervently that she would find a job! She prayed knowing that she had done her part and that God could do his part. Well, the next day she received a call from a saw mill that she would work graveyards! What a blessing! She has been out of a job for a month now! Its amazing to see that even though she works graveyards she still does her best to come out with us and do missionary work. She is so great at sharing the things that has brought her so much peace and happiness to others and that is what lead to the miracle of Brother Eddy!
Brother Tyler Eddy is Amanda's friend from way back and she considers him as her little brother. While Amanda was learning from us and was preparing for baptism he was discouraging her from joining the church. Well, out of just support of Amanda, he came to her baptism. After his baptism we were able to teach him the Restoration and he was still super doubtful. But after we left, he started reading The Book of Mormon. A couple weeks later he came to church and we passed him over to the Elders to teach him. At first he was just interested because of the people, but then he came to received witnesses from the Holy Ghost that the things we taught were true and that this was the path God wanted him to take. He loved being out with the Elders and would go do service with them. They set him for a date to be baptized later in August to work towards but as time kept going they moved it up to August 8th! Tyler was baptized on Saturday and it was an amazing service. His dad came and felt the spirit and teared up a bit. It is so cool to see how the Gospel of Jesus Christ changes people. "Hearts are changed through faith on His name." He already wants to serve a mission. Him and Amanda can have so much influence in the community! Man, God is good.
We had two of our investigators at church this week. One is Amanda's friend, Jasmine. She is 17 and 8 months pregnant. She loves the things we have been teaching her. The only thing that is holding her back is an abusive boyfriend. So we will continue to pray that he will get out of her life... But she also came to a baptism and really enjoyed it. Debbie also came to church again and really enjoyed it. We taught her a lesson this week but it was a bit rocky. She has so many doubts and questions and isn't quite there with faith and action. We taught her obedience and the Word of Wisdom because we felt that would help her receive an answer about things but she wouldn't commit to live it until she she knew these things are true... Its hard to know that to do it help her! But good thing we have The Lord here helping us.
Vanderhoof really is just an amazing place full of miracles. Its a place truly special to me because its where I have come to know my Savior better. I'm grateful for the new transfer and to be with Sister Collier. We are going to baptized while we are together!! Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers. Hope you all have a great week! :)
Love,
