Its been another great week up here in Vanderhoof! I love this place so much and the Lord just loves to bless us up here. :)
The crowning moment was Amanda's baptism! She has been doing awesome all week and went out tracting with us and visiting people with us. She also just spent hours reading the scriptures and watching videos and things online. The Lord protected her as she did so.That girl has got a lot of faith! She was so excited and ready for her baptism. We had lots of support from the ward and had lots of people come. Her mom, her "brother", and her little 2 year-old, Marek, came to the baptism. Her brother Tyler, is actually pretty interested and we taught him the Restoration and he is going to be coming to church next Sunday. Amanda was glowing with the light of Christ after the baptism and our ward mission leader invited everyone over for a BBQ later that evening. Well, funny story because we got Amanda fired from her job just 2 hours after her baptism. She thought she would be good skipping work because they usually aren't busy and just send her home. Well turns out the pub/liquor store she works at was super busy... So she is no longer working there but she takes it as a sign from God that she shouldn't be working in that environment after she has been baptized. :) She is doing awesome and is super excited to be a missionary and share the Gospel and come out with us. She is taking us to her home town this Tuesday to tract the whole thing out. This morning she called us and was telling us about her morning study of the Book of Mormon and how she was reading Moroni 10 and was just crying because she felt the spirit was so strong. Really, this girl is AWESOME! The Gospel has changed her life so much and I love being able to witness how the Atonement of Jesus Christ changes people and bring them happiness. I was blessed to give the talk on baptism at her baptism and all the spirit was telling me to talk about was how to find peace and joy in this life. And that is through living our covenants we have made with our loving Father in Heaven. Only the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings happiness in the life and eternal joy in the life to come.
After all this spiritual stuff I want to end this letter with a funny story. Last night I was in our study room and Sister Tennison was in the kitchen of the cabin and I hear these awful sounds... I look out the window and there are two cats chasing each other and one of them our cat, Thomas! Thomas was being attacked by another mean black cat! So I yelled for Sister Tennison and ran to her and she was running to me for the same thing! So we run out to try and save him and has we are running I grab one of my running shoes for protection. As we open the door of the cabin and run out on the porch the mean black cat was already their and surprised us! I literally thought it was going to run up me and attack my pretty face so I screamed for my life! Luckily my weapon of choice, my shoe, scared him off and we were all safe. Including Thomas. :)
Well, kids. It's always an adventure in Vanderhoof and I just love mission life so much! Sister Tennison just laughs at me because I even sleep talk about missionary things. The Lord has blessed me so much on my mission and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers! Hope you have a great week!
Love,
Sister Lofthouse :)
