Its been another great week in little Vanderhoof! :) We have seen so many blessings this week!
Last Monday we were able to meet up with this girl named Ru. She is originally from Zimbabwe! Elders serving on Vancouver island (like 14 hours away from Vanderhoof) dialed a wrong number and talked to Ru and she said she was interested in meeting up with missionaries. She is amazing and has such a strong faith in Christ. She has been actually going to one of the more Anti-Mormon churches in town but she was super open to learning and asked really good sincere questions. It was crazy because how the lesson went we basically taught the Restoration backwards... But it made since because the spirit was guiding mine and Sister Collier's words. At the end of the lesson we had a kneeling prayer with her and we asked her who should say it and she said she wanted everyone! So we all took a turn and said a prayer and the sprint was so strong! She had a busy rest of the week so we haven't been able to meet with her again but hopefully this week!
On Tuesday we went out to talk to people on the streets and we prayed for a miracle! Well, we ran into this younger 1st Nations lady and she was super sweet and open to us. She has been going through a hard time and just got out of bad circumstances and is now in the safe home in town. We set up a time to see her the next day at the park but something else came up in our schedule so we sent the Elders over to teach her. Well, we got a text from the Elders saying that they had a really awesome lesson and that she loved the Book of Mormon and committed for a date to get baptized! The next morning we met up with her and she is so prepared for the Gospel, its crazy! When we were asking her about the lesson she had with the Elders she talked about her baptism date and she said, "I was baptized when I was a baby but I don't really count it. I want to be baptized in the true way that actually means something." The spirit was so strong and we read 2 Nephi 31 with her and taught the Law of Chasity and Word of Wisdom and she committed to live both of them and doesn't have any concerns with them. What a miracle! She said the day before we talked to her on the street that she had prayed that she would be able to find a couple girl friends and that we were an answer to her prayers. But really she was an answer to our prayer!
This weekend was the fall fair in Vanderhoof that our ward wanted us to be at to talk with people there. We were able to talk to loads of people because a good chunk of the population of Vanderhoof was there. We were able to hang out with our investigator, Grace, there. She is 18 and is super truth seeking. We taught her the Plan of Salvation and she believes everything. She was going to come to church but she still lives with her parents who would not be open to that at all... So hopefully this Sunday will work out better!
One night this week I was sitting on my bed writing in my journal when I heard Sister Collier say from the bathroom, "Umm... What was the name of the mouse you and Sister Han had?" And I said Sofia! And she said "I'm pretty sure Sofia just ran into the room!" Sofia has returned!! And she brought her friends this time! And they poop all over... Then the next night we were in our study room and Sister Collier found the mouse! We really needed to kill it! So I gave sister Collier a running shoe and told her to throw it at her. I am so impressed with Sister Collier! She hit the mouse with one blow and it was dead! She is The Mouse Slayer! I told her she was a cat. Meow. :)
Well, its never a dull moment in Vanderhoof! I am so thankful for all the experiences I have as a missionary. The Lord has really helped me this week with strengthening my testimony and my desire to go out and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord truly is so merciful of us and this is His work. God is so good to us and is aware of our needs! Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers. Have a great week!
Love,
Sister Lofthouse
