May 18, 2015: Eaten Alive

Hello Family and Friends!

I hope you are all doing well! Its been a crazy week! I was only in Vanderhoof for 3 days! I stayed in Prince George for a few days with sisters over there until Wednesday when I flew down to Vancouver. I finally got flying by myself down! Haha... I miss the lower main land! I got to be with the Vancouver YSA sisters, Sister Rogers and Sister McKee! It was sooo good to see Sister McKee again! It was super awkward to go contacting with all three of us so we went on splits so I was with Sister McKee. We got to teach a lesson together! Even after all this time me and Sister McKee still teach with unity! We both feel like our time together is not over and that the Lord will put us back together one day!

Then Thursday was Transfer meeting and I got to meet my new companion, Sister Tennison, from Ventura California. She is awesome! She has a cool story and has been less active a lot of her life but she has a heart of gold! She has a gangster LA accent and is a power lifter so I feel safe with her. Haha. She is Filipino, Spaniard, Mexican, and Souix Indian. The meeting was amazing. Then after wards we headed back over with the Vancouver YSA sisters because our plane didn't leave until the next morning. The sister's had lots of appointments that evening so they gave us there transit passes and let us go our way! So where do we go? Downtown Vancouver of course! It was crazy being in the city life again after being up in Vanderhoof! It was fun though. When we were taking the skytrain back to the sisters' apartment this big Tongan guy asked Sister Tennison if she was Polynesian. Turns out this guy's family is all mormon and all his friends and he plays football up here in Canada. So we get talking and it turns out he knows Curtis! (recent convert back in Surrey) because Curtis used to play Football up here. We got his number to give to the YSA sisters so that they could meet up and talk more. It was a cool experience!

In the morning we got on the plane and made it safely back to Vanderhoof. On Saturday, Sister Arnold from the ward took us to Fort St. James to go to some lessons. We had the coolest experience! At the beginning of last transfer me and Sister Han met a 1st Nations guy but nothing worked out for us to see him. Me and Sister Tennison finally were able too! His name is Guy and he is SUPER prepared for the Gospel. He has had a rough life with drugs and being in jail that it made him hate himself. While in jail a Christian told him that he shouldn't hate himself, just the things he was doing. It changed his life and made him have faith in Jesus Christ and he started studying the bible. He has now overcame those dark thoughts and addictions. And he now works with Natives with suicidal thoughts. While in our lesson he said he is always looking for truth and light from God and he brought up baptism without us saying anything about it. We read with him Alma 7 and set him to be baptized on June 6th. The spirit was so strong in the lesson! He wasn't able to come to church because something came up but hopefully this week. That will be the only thing holding him back because he does't smoke or drink! He said that God's spirit told him to stop 2 years ago. Really though, the Lord prepares.

Its been crazy in Vanderhoof because there are sooo many bugs! I cant even believe how many mosquitoes there are after being gone for a week. We are getting eaten alive. And we hear it is supposed to get worse! Haha... Always an adventure up here in Vanderhoof! I am thankful that I can learn so much from from Sister Tennison this transfer. Please keep us in your prayers! Thank you for your love and support! Heavenly Father truly does love each of us and is aware of us. Have a great week! I love you all.

Love,
Sister Lofthouse
