Its been another beautiful week in Vanderhoof. Really, this place is heaven and I just love the people so much. :)
One of our friends that we talk to around town almost everyday got sick last week and was in the hospital. Her name is Wanda and she is a middle aged, native lady that is always around town. She really enjoys talking to us! Well we heard she was up in the hospital so we went and visited her one day. She was pretty tired so she didn't say much... Well a few days later we were able to meet up with a new investigator named Cory. He was pretty sad because he said that he just saw his cousin in the hospital and that's probably the last time he would see her... We asked who his cousin was and it was Wanda. We decided to teach him the Plan of Salvation and it was such a spiritual lesson. He is so open and prepared by the Lord. He was saying and he was looking for the happiness we have. Well, that's found by following God's Plan of Happiness! The spirit was so strong and he committed to be baptized. After the lesson we went up to see Wanda again. All of her family was there and she wasn't looking very good... We didn't really know what to do so we sang "I am a child of God" and said a prayer with her. She passed away from cancer the next morning. I hope we helped her out in some way. This life really is so short in the big picture but its so important. Its where we are being tried and tested in all things. Life is short but we can find joy. We can fill our lives with meaningful things and bless others.
We just have the best members in BC up here in Vanderhoof. Today the Relief Society ladies threw a little baby shower for our investigator, Jasmine. :) Also, yesterday we really wanted to meet our proselyting goals but we needed to go on splits to do it. So we were calling ward members last minute to come out tracting with us. Lots of people were busy but we decided to call Sister Cromarty, who is 86! And she was willing to come out! Bless her heart! Because of her we were able to hit the Standards of Excellence for 3 weeks in a row. It just proves that anyone can do missionary work. :)
This week as also been filled with adventures! We were in Fort St James and we parked at a member's daughter's house who is a nonmember and they were slaughtering their bear and moose that they shot so we were able to help them! Only in this area will that happen! lol. :) Also its been interesting because I have been in the area for so long that I have knocked on every door about 3 times already. Some people are getting sick of me. We tracted one street and we talked to more cats than people because no one would answer. But I love cats, so it was all good. :) Meow. 🐈
My mission is so sacred to me. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love to see the Lord continue to help me in my weaknesses. I am grateful that he chooses to work through the weak and the simple. I'm going to be hitting my year mark this week and I can't believe how fast times flies. I love seeing the Lord's hand in this work so much. Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers. I love you all.
Love,
Sister Lofthouse
